12pm Sports News: Featuring Bale, Kessler and Bolt

A round up of the latest news stories from across the world of sport.

Real Madrid have lashed out at Tottenham Hotspur for holding up the transfer of Gareth Bale. With time in the transfer window running out, Bale is thought to be furious with the North London club as Real Madrid sweat over whether they can get the deal done before the transfer deadline this Monday.

England Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad says his side are disappointed following defeat in the first T20 international to Australia. Batting first, Australia amassed a massive 248-6 thanks to a world record 156 from Aaron Finch. England managed just 209-6.

“Sometimes you have to hold your hands up. It was a magnificent knock by Finch and he won the game for Australia - The crowd will go home happy having seen 460 runs off 40 overs, but there are 11 disappointed Englishmen, that's for sure,” said Broad.

Joleon Lescott has put an end to speculation over his future, insisting that he wants to sign a new long term contract with Manchester City. Lescott has been linked with several Premier League sides this summer including Liverpool and Arsenal.

“I have expressed a number of times that nothing more would please me than to sign an extension. If that negotiating ever happens, I will be there with my pen ready to sign,” Lescott told Sky Sports.

Mikkel Kessler has said he wants to fight IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion Carl Froch for a third time. Kessler and Froch are notorious for their sluggish and physically demanding fights.

“I would do a third one - Now I've got to be a father and so I better think about the future. But still... Froch III? That could happen!” the Dane told Sky Sport’s Ringside.

Usain Bolt claimed victory in the Zurich Diamond League meeting over the 100 metres. Bolt clocked a time of 9.90 seconds to win the event, with American Justin Gatlin producing a time of 9.96 seconds.
