Standard Chartered Bank has announced the appointment of Donna Parks as chief risk officer and regional credit officer for the Americas, based in New York.
Parks replaces Peter Shaw, who is taking on a new role as chief risk officer for Europe and the UK. She reports to Julio Rojas, CEO of the Americas, as well as Andrew Bainbridge, chief risk officer for the Western Hemisphere.
Parks was previously Standard Chartered’s senior regional credit officer for Wholesale Banking in the Eastern Hemisphere, based in Hong Kong. In that role she was responsible for overseeing wholesale banking credit risk management and credit risk control teams in Northeast and Southeast Asia. In addition to her geographic responsibilities, she also managed global commercial real estate and commodities risk.
Before joining Standard Chartered Bank in 2008, Mrs. Parks was managing director and head of capital markets risk for Asia at Citigroup in Hong Kong. She was responsible for risk management in financial institutions (including non-bank institutions) and covered corporate counterparties for derivatives transactions.
Born in Jamaica, Parks moved to New York as a child and graduated from Baruch College (CUNY) with a degree in marketing management and computer science.
