Odds: Newcastle 15/13, Draw 5/2, Fulham 27/10
Last season’s meeting: Newcastle 1-0 Fulham – St James’ Park, 7th April 2013
Newcastle come into the game with huge pressure to get a result after two poor performances to start the season. They haven’t yet scored a goal and have only one shot on target in 180 minutes of football.
Fulham had a terrific start to the season with an away win against Sunderland but last week saw them put in a poor performance as they lost 3-1 to Arsenal.
Newcastle will hope that new signing Loic Remy will bolster their attack and underfire Alan Pardew will hope that he can ignite their season otherwise he could be out of a job very soon.
Martin Jol’s side will be ready to take advantage of a Newcastle side that is devoid of any confidence and another big away win will work wonders for his side’s belief.
Both sides finished closer to the relegation than they would have liked and The Magpies have shown no real sign of improvement yet. A supportive home crowd that, despite being angry towards the owner, will get behind their players and will them on to a much needed victory.
It will be a tight game with neither side really taking charge, a draw here is a quite a likely results though the away side will be much happier with the point than Newcastle. Any kind of improvement will be seen as a step in the right direction for both clubs.
Last season’s reverse fixture:
A close game was decided by a Hugo Rodellaga goal 20 minutes from time. Early in the first half Steve Sidwell had put Fulham in the lead before Hatem Ben Arfa equalised for the visitors.
