The Mirror reports that Manchester United have raised their offer for Everton pair Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini to £38million.
This comes after the champions’ initial offer of £28million was branded an insult by David Moyes’ former club.
It is not yet known if the latest bid will be successful, although the reports claim Everton wish to know how much United are willing to pay for Fellaini on his own – as they are far more likely to part with the Belgian than his teammate.
The Telegraph develops this further, claiming that while Baines is open to a move to Old Trafford, he will not ask for that to happen.
That said, the timing of the latest claims that the England left-back has spoken to Martinez about a potential move suggests he may not have given up on it just yet.
From possible incomings to potential departures now: with Javier Hernandez linked with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Mirror claims Spurs wish to sign the Mexican for a fee in the region of £7million, although United would seek closer to £15million.
But in truth it seems the latest crazy rumour in a summer full of them, with Moyes unlikely to part with an outstanding young striker who has been a model professional since his move to Old Trafford.
That he has already turned down a move to Valencia this summer suggests Hernandez wishes to remain where he is and his talent and attitude mark him down as a future great at United.
