Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur - What chance another 5-2 result?

Tottenham V Arsenal Modric

Odds: Arsenal 11/10, Draw 27/10, Tottenham 11/4

Last season’s meeting: Arsenal 5-2 Tottenham – Emirates Stadium, 17th November 2012.

Tottenham will start this game with something to prove after leaving the Emirates on the last two occasions empty handed on the end of a 5-2 scoreline. Arsenal meanwhile will be full of confidence after recording three wins in a row over the past week.

Despite no new big signings Arsenal will believe that they can win this game and set down a marker to their fierce rivals in the battle for a top four place. One concern will be their home form as their two best performances came away from home, Arsene Wenger will be hoping that a derby atmosphere will inspire his team to victory.

Injuries are a concern for the Gunners, as they have doubts over Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, meanwhile Lukas Podolski has been ruled out for 8-10 weeks with a hamstring injury.

Andre Villas Boas will have to deal with finding his best side after two 1-0 wins against Crystal Palace and Swansea. He has quite a few new signings to bed into the team and the North London Derby is not a game where you can afford to do that.

It is yet to be seen whether new signing Erik Lamela will be registered in time to take part. Roberto Soldado will want to continue his scoring run for his new side.

If the last few meetings are anything to go by expect this to be a high scoring affair, it always threatens to boil over and don’t think that his game will be any different. I can see it being a score draw but don’t be surprised if Arsenal grab the win. If anything it will be entertaining.

Last season’s reverse fixture:

Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal – White Hart Lane, 3rd March 2013

The home side took advantage of some poor Arsenal defending to score two quickfire goals to go 2-0 up before the half time break. A goal from Per Mertesacker brought his side back into the game but it wasn’t enough to salvage any points. Spurs went seven points clear of their rivals after this victory.
