Liverpool transfer news: Reds lead race for Sakho, bid for Turan may be forced

A round up of the latest transfer stories connected to Liverpool.

Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Mamadou Sakho. News broke earlier this week that Liverpool were taking another look at the centre back.

Roma are also reportedly interested in securing the defender on a long term deal and are one of the only sides that could spoil any plans Liverpool have for him.

However, his apparently high wage demands could force Roma out of the equation with Liverpool likely to put together a competitive salary and bonus package.

If Liverpool are harbouring an interest in Atletico Madrid wide man Arda Turan then their hand may be about to be forced.

Latest reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur will go after the player as they seek to compensate for the impending loss of Gareth Bale.

Atletico Madrid are thought to be keen on getting the top end of their valuation which is around £30 million, the value of the player’s buy out clause.

Liverpool will have to think outside the box if they want to revisit the chance of signing Chelsea star Juan Mata.

Several reports have suggested that Chelsea rejected an approach from Liverpool to take the Spaniard on loan for the rest of the season.

Mata is facing a confusing season under Jose Mourinho after being one of Chelsea’s most important players in the last campaign.
