Reports about mandatory online components in all games unrepresentative, says exec Peter Moore.

EA's COO Peter Moore has come out swinging against rumours that the publisher was going to force all games to be "online" by saying the company remains committed to single-player experiences.

Addressing gamers directly through his blog, the executive said that reports had misrepresented EA's efforts to bring online functionality into most of its titles.

He explained that online functionality meant that almost all games would see new content delivered via an internet connection, or social media and multi-player components being incorporated into titles, but he stressed that it wouldn't impact offline gamers who wanted a single player experience.

"What that does not mean is that every game we ship will require an online connection," he stressed.

"Many, if not most, of our games include single-player, offline modes that you can play entirely without an Internet connection, if you so choose. We know that’s something many of our players want, and we will continue to deliver it."
