'Who needs Casillas when we've got Courtois'

Chelsea loanee Thibaut Courtois has been used as an illustration of just why Atletico Madrid will not be entering the market for Spain's number one goalkeeper.

The future of Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been up for much debate after new manager Carlo Ancelotti kept him on the bench in favour of Diego Lopez.

Casillas has been linked with Premier League trio Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, as well as even Barcelona.

The possibility of signing Spain's number one was even put forward to the manager of rivals Atletico Madrid by the Spanish media.

Speaking in his press conference, manager Diego Simeone was quick to nip the rumours in the bud - asking why he would want him in the first place.

"I would not want to (sign) Casillas, and I have Courtois."

"I have two goalkeepers waiting their chance. We are covered."

It's a fair point, although with Courtois only a loan signing - the chance to sign Casillas on a permanent basis could have been tempting for Simeone had it not been for the rivalry between the two clubs.

You suspect Simeone's comments were every much an endorsement of Courtois, as and admission such talk of Casillas swapping Real for Atletico would never be more than pure fantasy.

Chelsea fans, would you rather have Casillas at your club to replace Cech or give Courtois the opportunity he has been waiting for?
