Roy Hodgson announces the players to have made the cut for next month's set of qualifiers.
With four qualification matches left in England's international calendar and their place in the 2014 World Cup far from secure, manager Roy Hodgson's upcoming selections will be crucial in whether the Three Lions will roar in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, next summer.
Trailing Montenegro by two points but with a game in hand advantage, should England engineer victories over Moldova at home, Ukraine away (both September), Montenegro and Poland (both at home, both in October), then the nation can breathe a collective sigh of relief.
Hodgson has already named the squad charged with the task of gaining maximum points from the September fixtures… and there are fresh inclusions in Everton's Ross Barkley and Tottenham Hotspur's Andros Townsend.
Both Barkley and Townsend have yet to be capped at senior level but both have begun their Premier League form this season in commanding fashion.
'Ross impressed me when I worked with him at St. George's Park along with quite a few other people. Townsend was on our radar and in choosing these players we have a chance of seeing players with a bright future,' said Hodgson on the latest call-ups.
'We want a winning team,' he added. 'We want to pick a team that is going to win. Players like Barkley and Townsend can make a difference and be players that make a big impact.'
