Manchester City latest: Valencia defender targeted; Juventus reject Kolarov link

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Following Manchester City ‘keeper Joe Hart’s shaky performance against Cardiff on Sunday, the Mirror reports that Manuel Pellegrini may consider dropping him; this despite the fact that England manager Roy Hodgson will stick with Hart as England’s number one.

Hodgson has announced the national squad for the forthcoming games against Moldova and Ukraine. And prior to that announcement he told reporters he would persevere with the City stopper.

As far as I’m concerned, I’ve got every faith in Joe Hart,” Hodgson said. “When I took the job on I thought I had a top-class goalkeeper to work with and 16 months later I still think I’ve got a top-class goalkeeper to work with, and I’m pretty sure he’ll still get the headlines for all the right reasons again.”

Both England and City fans will hope that is the case. And he may soon have some additional support at the back in the form of Adil Rami.

The Valencia defender is the latest man to be linked with a move to the Etihad, following the defensive injuries currently plaguing the Blues.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Pellegrini may turn to the Frenchman as his preferred target Martin Demichelis is overpriced.

Atletico Madrid signed the Argentinian on a free transfer this summer, but are now reportedly asking for £4million – double what the City boss is willing to pay.

And finally, Juventus have rejected claims they are interested in signing Aleksander Kolarov. The left-back has been linked with a move away from the Etihad for much of the summer, but it is unlikely to be to the Serie A champions.

Their general director Beppe Marotta said, “Are we interested in Kolarov? No, we have Pepe who is recovering and we are betting on him.”
