Jose Mourinho says he wants to keep Juan Mata at Chelsea, despite the Spaniard being very much outside his first team plans so far this season.
Mata was on the bench at Old Trafford in Monday's 0-0 draw with Manchester United, and had previously been touted as a bargaining chip in a potential transfer for Wayne Rooney.
Tottenham and Liverpool have subsequently been linked with signing him, and expect Arsenal's name to crop up in a few of tomorrow's papers too, thanks to an odd chain of events prior to kick off.
French journalist Julien Laurens, of Le Parisien, sparked a mini-meltdown on Twitter by claiming Mata's dad was in the director's box at the Emirates for the Gunners' clash with Fenerbahce.
He later deleted his tweet, as his timeline shows, there is no mention of it, but not before countless Arsenal fans had spotted it and retweeted it.
Here is one fan who retweeted the message:
Why did he delete it? Was it not actually Mata's dad? Did he simply realise what a huge deal his message had caused?
The claims were later too repeated by BBC Radio 5 Live;
5live say Juan Mata's dad in Arsenal directors' box— Rob Harris (@RobHarris) August 27, 2013
Assuming it was actually Mata's dad, there may just be an innocent explanation behind it all.
It doesn't mean Mata is suddenly Arsenal bound - his dad might just simply want to watch an entertaining game of football...
What do you think of the message?
