With Liverpool in action against Notts County tonight, it is an opportunity for Brendan Rodgers to have a look at some squad players, and some youngsters.
Here is a look at five players who may feature.
Ryan McLaughlin – Highly rated right-back that has featured for the Reds’ in a few pre-season games, and has also caught the eye of the Northern Ireland manager having been called up once. With Martin Kelly believed to be missing out, there could be an opportunity for McLaughlin to be involved, with the more well-known John Flanagan rivalling him for that place.
Jordon Ibe – Highly rated and made his Premier League debut against QPR in the last game of last season. It wouldn’t be surprising if he starts tonight’s game given he is around the first team set-up for the league games this season and featured heavily in pre-season.
Andre Wisdom – Brendan Rodgers said he would like Wisdom to go out on loan, but he has a chance here to give him a bit of experience at centre-back after operating at right-back in several games last season. It will be interesting to see if his performances are just as impressive at the heart of the defence.
Lloyd Jones – Another player who seems to be highly rated after travelling with the first team towards the end of last season for the game against Fulham. A highly rated centre-half but with Skrtel and Wisdom in the side, there may only be a place on the bench for him, it would be nice for him to get on.
Daniel Pacheco – He may be close to not being regarded as a youngster anymore, but this could be an opportunity for Pacheco who has struggled to make it into the Liverpool side to put himself in the shop window or revitalise his prospects at Anfield. If he does play, it will be fascinating to see which position he does play. A talented footballer who will be desperate to impress.
