A round up of the latest transfer stories about Chelsea.
Tottenham Hotspur will make a reported £30 million approach for Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata.
The Spaniard has not been first choice under Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese coach returned to the club and Chelsea’s London rivals are apparently ready to splash their Gareth Bale cash.
However, Mata was also linked with a possible move to Manchester United earlier in the summer which was quickly dismissed by Chelsea’s current boss.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is likely to shun any move to Stamford Bridge if Chelsea make a third bid for the forward.
Rooney started for United in last night’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford and the reception he received from fans, as well as the role he played, suggest he doesn’t have a reason to leave the club.
Rooney was thought to be keen on a move away from United due to his stature in the current squad and the fact he’s behind Robin van Persie for the sole striker role.
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has revealed that Jose Mourinho wanted to make him one of his first signings in his second spell as Chelsea boss.
The Frenchman is rated as one of the best wingers in European football at the moment and says he’s determined to beat Mourinho this season rather than join forces with him.
“We often talk. He wanted me to go to Chelsea. We have a good relationship and respect between us, but I want to beat him,” Ribery told Kicker.
