Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering more than one offer for attacking star Gareth Bale, who is widely expected to join Real Madrid this week.
Sky Sports has reported that Spurs are considering various offers for Gareth Bale, insisting that no deal has been agreed between the Spanish giants and the North London club.
Considering the magnitude of the offer on the table for Bale from Real Madrid, there are only a handful of possible clubs around the world in a realistic position to go after the Welshman and spoil the party for the Spanish side.
So which sides could be looking at him?
Monaco have made no secret this summer that they will spend to get the best players and they certainly have the resources to pay a world record fee for Bale.
Monaco are two points behind Marseille in Ligue One following their first three games and their quest for complete domination may have forced a bid for Bale.
However, in terms of stature, the player would choose Real Madrid every single time because of their history and standing in the European game.
PSG are another French side that can certainly afford Bale and they have not been afraid to pay big wages and do big deals under the ownership of the Qatar Investment Authority.
PSG have seen several possible transfer targets this summer go and join Monaco, which means they could be very likely to fight for a player like Bale which would be a big signal of intent.
Bayern Munich are one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe and certainly the wealthiest side in Germany.
They are in a position where they can compete for most top players all over the world and they could afford a deal for Bale, which would likely be staggered over a prolonged period of time.
The presence of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben in the Bayern Munich would cast doubt over any realistic chance Bayern have of signing Bale unless Pep Guardiola wants to sign him as more of a central attacking player.
United are one of the only English clubs that Bale would consider joining but Spurs are not a naïve side and would be very unlikely to sell to a rival that could hurt them.
Financial resources are not a problem for United although they may struggle to pay the world record fee that Tottenham want for the player.
United haven’t budged in the transfer market this summer, which means they are sitting on a lot of cash and there have already been rumours and stories of reported United interest already this summer.
City wouldn’t have a problem paying £85 million for Bale and it would be a huge signal of intent that they are looking to dominate English football.
However, City have an attacking quartet of Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic which suggests that have no pressing need for an attacking player of Bale’s calibre in their squad right now.
Do you think any of these clubs could steal Bale away from Real Madrid? Which clubs do you think could get him?
