Serie A has got underway this weekend with Juventus attempting to defend their Scudetto title for a third season in a row, but this season will see bigger competition than ever before.
The club have been watching their close rivals improve over the past six months and any one of Fiorentina, AS Roma, Napoli, Inter Milan and especially AC Milan will feel they have a chance of getting their hands on the trophy this season.
But yesterday was an excellent day for Juve.
First of all, Milan lost their opening game of the season. It was a former Juve man who did the damage, two goals from 36-year-old veteran Luca Toni giving newly promoted Hellas Verona a 2-1 victory against the Rossoneri.
Then, Juventus had to do the business themselves against Sampdoria. They travelled to a wet and soggy Genoa for the opening game of the season for a tough looking tie with the Blucerchiati at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
The game did prove to be tough, but in the end Juve won victory with a 1-0 win.
The goal came courtesy of excellent play from two former Manchester United players.
Carlos Tevez, who signed for Juve from Manchester City in a £10 million deal this summer scored the winning goal - but it was a tap-in after the work from former United man Paul Pogba.
He laid the ball on a plate for the Argentine to grab his first Serie A goal. The pair stole the show when Juve thrashed Lazio in the recent Supercoppa Italia and it seems they will be a major force to be reckoned with for the Bianconeri this season.
Here is the goal that got Juve off to a winning defence…
