Arsenal weekend round-up: Ramsey form and £20m for Cabaye?

All the news and gossip from the past 48 hours at The Emirates.

Arsenal have beaten Fulham this weekend. In a rain drenched tie at Craven Cottage goals from Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski (2) were enough to win the game - despite a consolation goal from Darren Bent.

Aaron Ramsey was once again in top form for the club, and his excellent form for the club has seen his praises sung in several papers this morning - as the Welshman finally shows his class.

Arsenal loanee Francis Coquelin was sent off for SC Freiburg yesterday. It was a harsh decision and you can read about on the site here.

Arsenal will return to Newcastle United with a doubled transfer bid of £20 million for their French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

Arsenal bid for the player last Monday and the 27-year-old has subsequently been left out of the next two games for his current club against Manchester City and West Ham.

Cabaye is believed to want to play Champions League football - but The Gunners will have competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Sunday People also reports that Arsenal could make a shock move for Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata. Mata’s place in the Chelsea squad has consistently been questioned, despite his excellent 2012-13 campaign, ever since the arrival of Mourinho - who is not said to be a fan of the Spaniard.

Now, with Willian’s arrival, it is believed his future at the club is more under threat than ever.

Karim Benzema’s agent Karim Djaziri has told French press that he will not be signing for Arsenal:

"We can't stop the rumours. But I tell you: Karim will not go to Arsenal,"

However, Arsenal could have more luck in their pursuit of Angel Di Maria. The Argentine is reportedly available at the Bernabeu - as they look to balance the books ahead of the imminent Gareth Bale signing. And Spanish paper Marca suggests that Arsenal could spend €30 million on the winger this summer.

Finally, and Arsenal have told German side Schalke 04 that Lukas Podolski is simply not for sale. The Bundesliga side reportedly wanted to bring him in to shore up their flimsy attacking line-up.
