Arsenal transfer news: Agent says Benzema 'will not go' and Mata interest revisited

Transfer news from The Emirates regarding Karim Benzema, Juan Mata, Yohan Cabaye, Lukas Podolski and Angel Di Maria.

Arsenal will return to Newcastle United with a doubled transfer bid of £20 million for their French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

Arsenal bid for the player last Monday and the 27-year-old has subsequently been left out of the next two games for his current club against Manchester City and West Ham.

The bid has jumped by almost double because Arsenal do not want to incur the wrath of Newcastle any more than they already have, with the Toon hierarchy said to be insulted by the original bid - and frustrated at the timing of it, believing Arsenal could have deliberately unsettled their man.

Cabaye is believed to want to play Champions League football - but The Gunners will have competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Sunday People also reports that Arsenal could make a shock move for Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata. Mata’s place in the Chelsea squad has consistently been questioned, despite his excellent 2012-13 campaign, ever since the arrival of Mourinho - who is not said to be a fan of the Spaniard.

Now, with Willian’s arrival, it is believed his future at the club is more under threat than ever.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be keeping a keen eye on the situation.

Two reports from Real Madrid now - regarding Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema.

Starting with the latter, and the player’s agent Karim Djaziri has told French press that he will not be signing for Arsenal:

"We can't stop the rumours. But I tell you: Karim will not go to Arsenal,"

However, Arsenal could have more luck in their pursuit of Angel Di Maria. The Argentine is reportedly available at the Bernabeu - as they look to balance the books ahead of the imminent Gareth Bale signing.

But Spanish paper Marca suggests that Arsenal could spend €30 million on the winger this summer.

Finally, and Arsenal have told German side Schalke 04 that Lukas Podolski is simply not for sale.

The Bundesliga side reportedly wanted to bring him in to shore up their flimsy attacking line-up.

But after he bagged a double against Fulham yesterday, The Gunners have confirmed he is going nowhere.
