Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Bale unveiling prepared; talks begin over Chiriches

A select round-up of transfer news relating to Tottenham, including Gareth Bale, Willian and Vlad Chiriches.

“Bale at last!”

That is the headline from Spanish newspaper Marca, as they reveal Gareth Bale’s €99million move from Tottenham to Real Madrid is all but complete.

Only a medical stands in the way of a world-record move, with Bale agreeing a six-year contract and a €10million-a-year paycheque…after tax!

The same newspaper reports that the Bernabeu is being readied for the Welshman’s presentation, with the stage on which players are unveiled being constructed once more.

In other news, Willian’s likely move to Chelsea is being seen as a clear indication that Jose Mourinho is fearful of Tottenham’s title credentials.

The Mirror claims Spurs feel the Blues gazumped their offer for the Brazilian in an attempt to weaken them in a campaign when the Premier League is more open than ever.

Andre Villas-Boas believed a deal for Willian was in the bag, before a late move by Chelsea dashed their hopes.

But there could be some good news on the transfer front as Spurs reportedly open talks with Steaua Bucharest over the transfer of defender Vlad Chiriches.

The Daily Mail claims the £7.5million-rated player is the one Spurs want to strengthen their defence.

This comes weeks after Steaua’s imprisoned owner reportedly blocked a move to White Hart Lane, using his daily phone call.
