Plenty of teams this summer have reportedly been investigating the availability of Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen, and you can see why.
The talented Dane has finally come of age over the past year - recovering from a dip in form to become one of Europe’s most in-demand talents.
He has been linked with plenty of moves away from the Eredivisie side this summer - with teams from Russia, France, Spain, Italy and Germany all registering an interest in his services.
It has recently been stated by the players agent that he will not be joining a team who are not challenging for the title and in the Champions’ League Group Stages - which would affectively rule either Premier League side out of the running for his coveted signature.
But you have to feel that, despite those comments, he would be more then open to the opportunity to play for either of these historically significant sides.
The fact is it looks like neither deal will happen.
Tottenham are said to be on the verge of signing Erik Lamela while Liverpool reportedly gave up on the deal at the start of the month.
But someone needs to sign him up!
He has been in sensational form recently, and in the absence of Siem De Jong, out with a collapsed lung, has been at the forefront of the club’s performances.
Yesterday, Eriksen was the saviour.
Ajax threw away a 2-0 lead against Heerenveen to trail 3-2 after goals from Alfred Finnbogason (2) and former Manchester United youngster Magnus Eikrem.
But Eriksen managed to claw a point away from the tie - with his drilled shot in the 65th minute beating out-of-sorts Heerenveen stopper Kristoffer Nordfelt.
Not only that, but he also grabbed both assists for the Amsterdam outfit.
With the 21-year-old available for transfer, it is surely now just a matter of time before he signs elsewhere.
Could it be one of the Premier League pair?
