He's been on so many loans and doesn't really get a look in when he's back at Anfield. Is it for the best if he leaves?
Daniel 'Dani' Pacheco’s time at Liverpool has been an odd one. First brought to the club by Rafael Benitez, it was evident that he was highly rated and had tremendous ability – but has never been given a run of games to perform in the first team.
One of the problems with him looks as if no-one really knows where to play him, as he has been played in several positions at the top of the field, as a striker, off the striker or at times back into the midfield.
He is quite highly thought of and seems to have a lot of talent, a good reader of the game but for too long he has been one of those players that has been ‘on the fringes.’
As a result he has been on loan to several clubs including Norwich City, Atletico Madrid who then bizarrely sent him straight to Rayo Vallecano. He then spent much of last season on loan at Huesca in the Spanish second division.
Pacheco is now 22 and at that age he must be thinking about where his career is going. Does he really want to just spend another year out on loan and then return to Liverpool to be sent out to yet another different club?
It’s a good way for a young man to see the world, I suppose, but there must come a stage when he wants to stay in one place, playing first team football regularly and have a reasonable shot of success.
From what I have seen of Pacheco, I would’ve liked to have seen a Liverpool manager have a real go at making the lad into a well-rounded footballer. He has several attributes, sometimes the things that are missing just need to be drilled into the player, but if he is going to be away from the club again this season, isn’t it just for the best if it was on a permanent deal?
