The Bale transfer saga could also be nearing a conclusion.
First of all, here is the deal that is likely to be completed very soon and that is the transfer of Willian from Anzhi to Tottenham reported to be in the region of £30m. The striker was believed to have been in London last night and his medical could take place today.
Reports in the Daily Mirror believe that this means the Gareth Bale transfer saga is edging nearer to a conclusion but also indicates more transfer activity to come from White Hart Lane. Emmanuel Adebayor may be on his way out of the club as Spurs are prepared to listen to offers for the Togo international.
The club may also be lining up other targets including Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld and his teammate Christian Eriksen.
Spurs have also signalled their interest in Roma winger Erik Lamela with Roma believed to be in a position to accept less than the £30m they initially demanded. Lamela scored 15 goals in 33 appearances last season for the Italian side. But after the sale of Pablo Osvaldo to Southampton for around £15m, financial pressure on Roma has been lifted a little. However the two sides are £5 million apart in their valuation of the player with Spurs offering just £25 million.
Real Madrid legend Raul has said Gareth Bale is too expensive and believes that Tottenham have overestimated the price of player.
Raul said: “Bale is a wonderful player. I understand the Real Madrid board is working hard to assemble the best team possible. But the price is too high.”
That price could be £93m plus left-back Fabio Coentrao in what would be a world-record deal according to reports from Italian outlet Calciomercato. The same report said it would play a part in funding the Willian deal, and with that near completion, Bale could soon be on his way.
Another player linked with the club is Leandro Damiao of Internacional after he said: “If a very good offer comes, then maybe it could happen.”
Liverpool are also interested in the forward who also courted interest from Southampton.
Away from transfer news, the first team is currently preparing for its Europa League qualifying game against Dinamo Tblisi in Georgia tomorrow night with Spurs heading into the match as favourites.
