Chelsea manager updated the press on David Luiz's fitness and talked about Aston Villa ahead of their clash at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
Jose Mourinho has said the club has a Plan B and C when it comes to signing another player in the current transfer window.
Speaking ahead of his side’s game against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, when asked by journalists about whether there was a Plan B over signing new players, the Chelsea boss replied: 'and C.'
He refused to be drawn on any names with the club being linked with Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, for much of the summer, while Samuel Eto’o, too, has been associated with a move after reportedly welcoming a reunion with Mourinho – who he worked under at Inter Milan. Mourinho repeatedly said it is very difficult to talk about players at other clubs.
Mourinho said he agreed with what Newcastle manager Alan Pardew had to say about the transfer window going too far into the season – with all Premier League clubs having played at least three games before transfer business is concluded until January.
The Chelsea manager also gave an update on the fitness of David Luiz, saying that he has improved but won’t be available for selection for tomorrow. The Brazilian centre-half is recovering from a hamstring injury but Mourinho said he could be available for selection next week, when Chelsea visit Manchester United, then head to Monaco to take on European Champions Bayern Munich in the Super Cup.
When asked about his opponents for tomorrow’s game and whether he was surprised about Aston Villa’s win against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, he said: 'It was not such a big surprise because they can do that to any one of us. If you look at the statistics from last season they had more points away than at Villa Park.
'They're a good team, they can beat any of the contenders (for the title).'
