Manchester United's name is being used to fuel talk of a stunning transfer merry-go-round in Spain.
It has been quite a summer for transfer speculation, and it appears we are not done quite yet. In fact, over in Spain - talk is even turning to the January transfer window, and next summer.
Victor Valdes is scheduled to leavie Barcelona next year when his contract expires, and this has indulged some real fantasists on the part of the Spanish press.
Earlier today a pro-Barcelona blog tipped Iker Casillas to make a controversial switch to the club, joining up with several Spanish international teammates to replace Valdes - although quite whether he is willing to risk turning his back on Madrid in this manner is quite a question.
Now Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have launched their own crack theory, and thrown Manchester United's name into the mix.
They claim, without any apparent basis for such theory, that Casillas will head to Manchester United in January.
A line in the report states: "The coach of the 'Red Devils', David Moyes, has some doubts about David De Gea." A controversial statement, and one which is not backed up with evidence.
In turn, they state David de Gea would then be sold to Barcelona next summer, to replace Valdes, adding he is 'one of the first on Barcelona's agenda'.
A year is a long-time in football and anything can happen, but to us this sounds... bonkers.
What do you think? Is there any remote chance of it happening?
