Argentine sensation Erik Lamela was claimed earlier today to be close to a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
The winger was a standout player for Roma in Serie A last season, but the Italian club's representatives have been in London to discuss a move with Spurs.
While Spurs are said to be closing on a deal for Brazilian attacker Willian, but Italian sources claim that no breakthrough has been reached with Roma for Erik Lamela.
Roma want £30 million, but it is claimed Spurs have not yet offered more than £25 million for the 21-year-old.
The same report on the Football Italia website - linked below - claims Tottenham face competition for the player's signature, with Arsenal and Liverpool both interested.
Arsenal's shortcomings in the transfer market have been well documented, still to pay an actual fee for a player this summer - and they do have the money available to sign the winger.
Liverpool meanwhile have seemingly lost out to Spurs for Willian, and could well be looking for another target.
The same report states that Spurs could yet make a breakthrough, with the two clubs not massively apart, and Roma on a selling spree, cashing in on Pablo Osvaldo and Marquinhos already this summer.
Whether either Arsenal or Liverpool show the ambition to pay the money Roma are demanding, is another matter. You suspect if Spurs want him enough, they will get him.
Which side needs Lamela the most?
