Liverpool have completed the signing of defender Aly Cissokho on a season long loan.

Liverpool finalised the loan signing on Aly Cissokho last night, strengthening their defensive options in what could be a very shrewd signing by the club.

But just how impressed should fans be with the deal? 

Here are 10 facts about Cissokho for fans to take a look at...

1) Cissokho is a 25-year-old left-back who has played for five clubs already in his career to date.

2) He has just one international cap for France, earned back in 2010.

3) He signs from Valencia, where he had spent just one season, having signed for €5 million last summer.

4) Cissokho made his name at Porto back in 2008/09, where AC Milan attempted to buy him for €15 miion, only for a deal to be cancelled after he failed a medical. He signed for Lyon that same summer for the same price where he spent four seasons.

5) He made 25 La Liga appearances for Valencia last season, making two assists and scoring two goals.

6) He was sent off once last season, and has been three times in his career, the other two for Lyon - both at the hands of the same referee.

7) Cissokho has won three trophies in his career to date; the Portuguese Cup in 2009, as well as the French Cup and French Super Cup in 2012.

8) He has three older brothers who are all footballers, with 28-year-old Issa Cissokho presently playing in Ligue One with Nantes.

9) Including qualifiers, Cissokho has exactly 40 Champions League appearances to his name to date, 36 in the competition proper.

10) He has played twice against Liverpool in his career, with Lyon, winning one game and drawing the other.
