Transfer talk: Featuring Everton duo, Willian and Thauvin

Transfer news involving Everton, Tottenham, Southampton, Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Everton have rejected a joint bid for star duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines from Manchester United. The pair were key figures in the new United boss David Moyes’ Goodison Park regime - and he has already made a bid for Baines once this summer.

However Everton have held their resolve and told United the pair are not for sale - rejecting a £28 million joint bid.

If you didn’t already know, Southampton have beaten Tottenham to the signature of Italian international Pablo Osvaldo on a club record deal. It is believed a series of phonecalls with Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino did the trick - and Osvaldo has signed a four-year contract.

But Spurs have now been installed as favourites to sign Brazilian forward Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala. The club have tried to sign the player in the past but always found his asking price at Shakhtar out of their reach. He is thought to be available much cheaper at Anzhi - and Spurs have leapfrogged Liverpool in the running.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has claimed Gareth Barry wants to stay at the club - but is free to leave if that is his wish:

"In the position of Gareth we have also (Jack) Rodwell, (Javi) Garcia, Fernandinho and Yaya Toure. I spoke with Gareth. He wants to stay here and he does not have any problems staying here to fight for his position like any other player in the squad. If he wants to go because he has better options, it depends on what he wants to do."

Barry has recently been linked with a loan move to Everton.

Newcastle United have reportedly been told that talented Frenchman (big surprise) Florian Thauvin will cost them £8 million if they want to sign him from Lille this summer. The attacking midfielder only signed for the club in January but a change of manager has reportedly caused a change of heart.
