Arsenal have lodged a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye. The North London club have been spearheaded into transfer action - in the wake of the humbling defeat against Aston Villa last weekend.
The bid, believed to be around £12 million, has been flatly rejected. Newcastle are said to want a fee closer to £20 million for the French international - and consider the Arsenal bid as well below their valuation.
It is reported that the club will not stop their spending at Cabaye. They are also rumoured to be readying bids for Geoffrey Kondogbia and Atsuto Uchida of Sevilla and Schalke respectively.
However they will have to move fast for Kondogbia. The Frenchman is reportedly on his way to AS Monaco - after the big-spending Ligue 1 side met the 20-year-old’s release clause.
Reports linking Arsenal with a £25 million bid for Swansea City attacker Michu have progressed this Monday. The Spaniard has been in superb form, ever since signing for The Swans last summer. However the price-tag appears to be out of Arsenal’s reach.
The Juventus midfielder has been in superb form ever since leaving Manchester for Turin - and The Gunners would love to take him back to the UK.
It is said that the bid would be worth around £20 million - but a word of caution, the original source of this information is Sports Direct News - who have recently been wrong with numerous allegations.
Honorary vice-director of Arsenal Lady Bracewell-Smith has been speaking about her sale to Stan Kroenke.
Bracewell-Smith sold her stake to Kroenke during his takeover of the club in 2011, but she has now suggested changes are needed at the top in order for Arsenal to go forward:
"Bring Davie Dein [back] and give Usmanov representation on the board if we are to have success going forward".
