Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Bale silence doubted and Coentrao available

Transfer news from White Hart Lane, featuring Gareth Bale, Fabio Coentrao and Pablo Osvaldo.

Is there any Tottenham transfer news that isn’t Gareth Bale transfer news?

Today, the lead story in this saga is the apparent disillusionment Bale has with reports he is not talking to anyone at the club regarding his future. It is said that the Welshman believes he has been keeping the club informed and speaking to Andre Villas-Boas every day. It is also revealed today that Bale will be on £10m, after tax, in the Spanish capital.

One player being targeted by Tottenham is Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao. The Portuguese had a tumultuous season at The Bernabeu in 2012-13 and is now keen to leave, after falling foul of the Madridista.

Carlo Ancelotti has now confirmed Coentrao wants to leave, and that they would be willing to consider his sale. The former Chelsea boss would like to see the left-back stay at the club, but it is believed he could be used as a makeweight in any Bale deal.

Spurs are looking for left-back options, with Benoit Assou-Ekotto out of favour with AVB.

Southampton remain the main rivals in the pursuit of Roma’s Italian international forward Pablo Osvaldo. The Argentine born striker is on his way out of the Olimpico after a massive row with the clubs board and Ultra fans has seen his position at the club become untenable - despite being the clubs top goal-scorer last season.

However, despite reportedly having a £17.5 million bid accepted for the player - The Saints have come marching in.

Mauricio Pochettino used to work with the player at Espanyol and has earmarked him as their main target for the remainder of the window. The South Coast club will offer him a weekly wage of £50k in order to sufficiently rival any offer Spurs put on the table for his services.
