Tottenham transfer activity could see Nani out the Manchester United exit door

Nani Flip

Spurs are said to be after Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo - with Roma set to buy Nani with the proceeds.

Manchester United have not let any key players leave this summer, but one man is still expected to be on his way this summer, and no, I am not talking about Wayne Rooney.

Portuguese winger Nani has just one year left on his current deal at Old Trafford, and spent much of last season out of the side and out of favour after some poor form for the club.

He has been linked with plenty of moves this summer, with Arsenal, AS Monaco and Juventus all mentioned as potential destinations.

However, the new team on the block, said to be keen on snapping him up, are AS Roma. The Italian capital side want the player, but right now certainly cannot afford him. The Giallorossi have been spending big this summer already, bringing in the likes of Kevin Strootman and Gervinho in the past month.

So the capital club need to sell, if they are going to make United a bid worthy of pulling Nani away from the Theatre of Dreams.

The club certainly have plenty of big names who would be of interest to different big clubs - but the pair most consistently linked with an exit are Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo.

So while the sale of either player should provide them the funds to purchase Nani, it is reported in Italian media today that the sale of Lamela is being earmarked as the key to signing Nani - and Lamela will be sold to Tottenham Hotspur.

Potentially a replacement for the surely Real Madrid bound Gareth Bale - it is said Tottenham could be willing to spend €35 million on the Argentine this summer - and that fee will be used to bring in Nani as his replacement.

This actually seems like a transfer merry-go-round rumour that could actually have some credence.

If Bale leaves for the price being touted, then the club could easily afford that fee for Lamela.

Then Roma need a replacement, with Nani the perfect option - with United unlikely to want to see him leave for nothing next summer.

What do you think? Transfer truth or transfer twaddle?
