Arsenal get their Premier League campaign under way this afternoon - with Aston Villa visiting The Emirates. The Gunners drew their opening tie of last season 0-0, as they did the year before that, so any goal will please the Arsenal faithful - as long as it goes past Brad Guzan.
The team has been dealt some, predictable, injury concerns ahead of the first game of the season.
Per Mertesacker will captain the side in the absence of both Mikel arteta and Thomas Vermaelen through injury - while Nacho Monreal has not yet recovered for first-team action.
And don’t expect any debutants either. Arsenal have made just one signing this summer, French starlet Yaya Sanogo arriving from Auxerre on a Bosman. But he is struggling with a hamstring injury - and will therefore be struggling to make his debut - however, he has made the bench.
Santi Cazorla is on the bench, suffering with jetlag after his visit to Ecuador in midweek.
So who lines up for the opening game of Arsenal’s Premier League season?
Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker (c), Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Giroud
Subs: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Frimpong, Cazorla, Gnabry, Podolski, Sanogo
