All the latest news and views from White Hart Lane.
There are few teams who have fared better in the summer transfer market than Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester City may have a claim to the mythical crown, so too may Liverpool, but having already acquired Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho and Roberto Soldado, surely the N17 Lilywhites have concluded their business for this window? No chance.
The Erik Lamela speculation began earlier this week and has continued to snowball. The rumour has credence and the player has been touted as a potential superstar in the making. According to this report, Spurs rival Manchester United for the attacker's signature but his club, AS Roma, intend on holding talks with the Argentine so that his status can be clarified.
That's not all, Willian, formerly of Shakhtar Donetsk and currently of Anzhi, has put clubs in England on red alert after confessing his love for the country: 'I love the Premier League!' He told reporters in Brazil. The midfielder is valued at £30m and, yes, Tottenham and United are just two clubs who are allegedly in pursuit. However, it is Liverpool who are deemed to have the upper hand.
On Brazilians who have already arrived this summer, Paulinho has come out with this corker: 'The pace of football in England is faster than Brazil', or words to that effect. The highly-rated South American is settling in nicely in North London as he shares a common language - Portuguese - with the man who brought him to the Lane; Andre Villas-Boas.
Top striker Soldado, meanwhile, has targeted a return of 20 goals before the season concludes.
AVB has spoken out over the Gareth Bale situation, claiming that nobody knows what the in-form forward is feeling because he has not talked to the press about the expected record-breaking move to Real Madrid.
The Welshman, though, did speak to one person… just not about football, as Bale wished his compatriot Nathan Cleverly good luck in the WBO light heavyweight world champion's title defence against monstrous puncher Sergey Kovalev in Cardiff tomorrow night, Saturday.
In lighter news, one Spurs blog picked up exclusive photographs from the 'surprise party' that was thrown for Arsene Wenger's new signings.
