Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Capoue en route and Lamela

White Hart Lane 4

A select round-up of transfer news relating to Tottenham Hotspur, including Etienne Capoue, Erik Lamela, Gareth Bale, Tom Ince and Andros Townsend.

Etienne Capoue has told reporters that he passed his medical at Tottenham Hotspur, and that his move is expected to be made official today.

“There are only some paperwork to sign now. I will be at the training ground tomorrow," he said last night.

"Tottenham is a super club. It's the best club to continue my career. It should be official very quickly now."

Several news outlets have reported that Erik Lamela is a target for Tottenham Hotspur, but there are differing opinions over whether the Argentine is a possible replacement for Gareth Bale, or to be signed alongside keeping the Welsh forward.

Lamela enjoyed a superb season with Roma last year, scoring 15 times in Serie A, and the 21-year-old has two caps for his country.

At Roma he played on the right side of their attack, cutting in onto his favoured left-foot to score regularly in a manner not dissimilar to how Bale finished the season, but both players could play together on opposite flanks or if one played behind a central striker.

There is also speculation that Daniel Levy will meet with Bale when he returns from international duty to try to persuade him to stay, and that Spurs’ spending spree might be part of the club’s attempts to convince the 24-year-old of their ambition.

Spurs are considering a move for Blackpool winger Tom Ince, and the 21-year-old could be signed to replace Andros Townsend, who is a target for QPR this summer.

Ince is available for around £8million, and although he has already turned down the chance to join Cardiff, the winger is apparently open to the idea of a move to Spurs.

Townsend impressed whilst on loan at QPR last season, and was expected to be part of the Spurs first team squad this year, but could be sold to make room for Ince.
