Real Madrid have been keen to lower Gareth Bale's price tag by offering players into the bargain.
It has got them no closer to signing the Tottenham ace, with either Spurs refusing to take a players-plus-cash deal, or the Madrid men refusing to be used as makeweights, perhaps a bit of both.
One who has been linked with them is winger Angel di Maria, with the Argentine international enduring a mixed season at the Bernabeu last term.
However with the recent arrival of Carlo Ancelotti in place of Jose Mourinho he admits to feeling refreshed and certain he will not be heading out of the club.
Speaking after Argentina's 2-1 friendly win over Italy, he stated:
"There have been so many rumors, but I have a contract until 2018 with Real Madrid and the rest (will be) in Spain without a doubt."
While it's a shame we will not be seeing Di Maria in the Premier League then, perhaps we should applaud the star - A footballer that actually wants to see out his contract.
Madrid's options to trade down Bale's price tag are running out, with Spurs said to be lukewarm on adding Fabio Coentrao at left-back.
Can Tottenham hold out in the Bale saga? What is your view?
