Teenage winger Bruma has been attracting many a suitor over the past 12 months, thanks to his performances at club and international level.
He broke into Sporting Lisbon's first team at just 18, and then dazzled at the under-20 World Cup for his country in the summer.
But he is keen to clinch a big move, even though Sporting were said to have rejected a £12 million offer from Chelsea.
A legal row broke out after the player's agent claimed his contract was invalid, taking the issue to the courts in Portugal - with the situation now at a deadlock.
Sporting are still expected to cash in if a huge offer arrives, and his agent Gomes Bebiano has been talking about the player's future this week.
Quizzed if Portuguese rivals Porto or Sporting were interested, he admitted he was unsure of their interest in the player.
"For now there are proposals from Real Madrid, PSV and Galatasaray. If should get proposals from Porto or Benfica will be considered on a par with others."
Chelsea fans will note their club was not name checked in the list above, so have the club dropped their interest for now?
It would not be a surprise if Jose Mourinho has decided to walk away, with a deal looking more complicated to complete than most due to the ongoing legal wranglings.
It could just be that the Blues are playing a waiting game, and may yet make a late bid before deadline - But with Real Madrid interested, they will have to move quickly if Bruma is not to make up his mind to play at the Bernabeu next season.
Do Chelsea need Bruma? Do you expect a deal to be resurrected?
