Chelsea midfielder Marco Van Ginkel is determined to make an impact on the first team this season after impressing in the Blues pre-season fixtures. The 20-year-old, who was signed from Vitesse Arnhem this summer, is hoping to play as much as possible ahead of the World Cup.
"I was a starter during the last [friendly] games. When you play 60 or 70 minutes from the start every game, you know you're on the right track. I feel like I can keep up with everyone physically at Chelsea but I also want to show my football skills at the start of the season,” he said.
Chelsea youngster Wallace has signed for Inter on a season-long loan. Jose Mourinho was keen to loan out the 19-year-old, who was unlikely to be given a work permit to play in England, in order to gain first team experience at a top club in Europe.
Daniele De Rossi has been left out of Roma’s squad for their pre-season training camp is Riscone, reigniting rumours that the 30-year-old will move to Chelsea this summer. De Rossi is apparently available for around £11million, and there are reports in Italy that he will issue a statement regarding his future later this week.
Napoli are preparing a £5million bid for John Obi Mikel, with former Chelsea manager keen to bring the Nigerian to the Serie A club after missing out on Luiz Gustavo, who is set to move to Wolfsburg. Chelsea are reportedly happy to let the midfielder leave this summer.
Chelsea are keeping tabs on the availability of Samuel Eto’o, with Anzhi Makhachkala apparently ready to sell the striker as they attempt to slash their budget. Napoli and Roma are also interested in the Cameroon international, although his massive wages could prove an impediment to any move this summer.
Nathaniel Chalobah has played down fears he was seriously injured in England Under-21’s 6-0 win over Scotland last night. Chalobah was stretchered off during the match, but has said the injury is not too serious.
