On this day: Mirallas chooses Everton whilst Agger says no to UK switch

On the 14th August 2012 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and City.

I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 14th August 2013, but a year earlier.

What were the main transfer tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 14th August 2012…

Belgian Toffee

On the morning of Tuesday August 14th 2012 we woke up to the news that Arseanl were in talks with Olympiakos over the potential signing of the Greek sides excellent forward Kevin Mirallas.

It was certainly a deal that looked good on paper – with Mirallas carrying a ridiculously cheap price-tag for a player in such good form.

But it seemed Arsenal were on to a winner, but hang on, later in the day, and the Belgian was on his way to Everton.

Spurred on by the Arsenal interest David Moyes wrapped up a £6 million deal for Mirallas – from under Arsenal noses.

Dane in the neck

This summer has seen Liverpool defender Daniel Agger linked with a move away from the club – but a year ago he was saying he would be going nowhere.

His agent suggested an open attitude toward Barcelona the other day, but Manchester City’s interest a year ago fell on deaf ears.

The belief is that this summer would once again see Agger stay at Anfield, but he interestingly only ruled out a move to another team in England – hopefully Catalonia is not more appealing.

Getting Chile in Manchester

Manchester United signed Angelo Henriquez from Universidad de Chile under a weight of expectation.

The talented 18-year-old passed his medical but spent his time in 2012-13 in the under-21 team and on loan at Wigan Athletic.

David Moyes recently hinted at more playing time for the Chilean – time will tell.
