Manchester City ace says Gareth Bale is not at Ronaldo's level

Alvaro Negredo is the latest to question whether Gareth Bale is worth a record breaking fee.

Last week it was former Spurs boss Juande Ramos who stated Gareth Bale was not worth the type of figures being discussed for his signature, and another man with Real Madrid connections has voiced his opinion too.

New Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo began his career like Roberto Soldado with Real Madrid, before moving on to play first team football and establishing himself as the star we know today.

He has been speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, and given his opinion on Gareth Bale.

And it would seem he is in agreement with Rio Ferdinand, who earlier this year described anybody who thought Bale was on Cristiano Ronaldo's level was an 'idiot'.

Negredo said: "(Bale) is not on a level with Messi or Cristiano (perhaps)  he could be in the future because he has a lot of talent."

It would appear that Madrid's hierarchy disagree, strongly considering sanctioning a world record fee for the Welshman, reportedly haggling with Spurs.

Could Negredo's words have been carefully advised to create yet another voice aiming to 'talk down' Bale's level and potential price tag?

It's what Marca have been up to all summer, frequently described as Real Madrid's mouthpiece. Whether Spurs take any note however, is up to them and they are best served to ignore the propaganda.

Is Bale as good as Ronaldo, what do you think?
