The Bundesliga side seal ex Wigan Athletic forward on a free deal.
Tall striker Franco di Santo, 24, has joined reputable German outfit Werder Bremen on a free transfer following five years in English football having represented Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers on loan and Wigan Athletic.
According to Bild, di Santo passed his medical check-up and penned a four-year contract worth approximately £2m per year today, Wednesday. While out of favour over the summer, di Santo kept his fitness sharp with the use of a personal trainer.
It is this measure, Bild state, that saw him pass his medical and stress test with the highest marks, however, he will not be fit for the beginning of the Bundesliga (Werder face FC Augsburg on Saturday, August 17) as he will need a number of weeks to acclimatise to the rigours of first-team football in Germany.
di Santo, capped thrice by Argentina, will compete for a striking position along with fiery Marko Arnautovic, last season's recruit Joseph Akpala and former Bayern Munich player Nils Peterson.
