Luis Suarez has told an Uruguayan newspaper that he now intends to stay at Liverpool despite his previous attempts to force through a move this summer, with the striker citing the supporters as the reason he has abandoned his plans to leave.
"For now, due to all of the people's affection (for me), I will be staying,” He told El Observador
Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko and Swansea City’s Michu are both on Arsene Wenger’s shortlist, and Arsenal will now have to move quickly if they hope to sign either player before the end of the transfer window.
Dzeko had looked set to leave Manchester City this summer after becoming unsettled with his bit part role at the Etihad last season. However a fine pre-season has seen Manuel Pellegrini recently describe him as his first choice forward, and the Bosnian could be a tricky move for Arsenal to pull off at this stage.
Michu enjoyed and incredible first season in the Premier League with Swansea City, scoring 18 times, and already looks to have established a good partnership with new signing Wilfried Bony.
Whether Michael Laudrup would let Michu leave this late in the window is unknown, but Swansea will certainly be looking for a large profit on the £2million they paid last summer.
Having beaten Arsenal to the signing of Gonzalo Higuain this transfer window, Napoli are ready to step up their interest in Luiz Gustavo, who had seemed close to agreeing a move to the Emirates.
Gustavo has said he would like to move to Arsenal, but there have been some reports in Germany that the Gunners have yet to agree a fee with Bayern Munich, and the delay might allow Napoli to try and gazump the deal for the midfielder.
