Arsenal aiming for two more impossible signings?

The Mail report that Arsenal want to add players from Swansea City and Manchester City. But they remain long shots.

Arsenal's transfer hunt is showing signs of becoming farcical, with the two alternatives being lined up just as long shots as signing Luis Suarez is.

The club have been unsuccessful so far in signing the Liverpool forward, with the Reds standing firm and refusing to sell.

It has become a theme in the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United refusing to sell Wayne Rooney, and Spurs also adamant over Gareth Bale, seemingly at any price.

Christian Benteke too tried to force a move away from Aston Villa, but the club made it clear he was not going anywhere, and the Belgian striker ended up signing a new deal.

So it really makes you wonder if Arsenal have any chance of landing their two reported Suarez alternatives, Edin Dzeko and Michu.

It our opinion, the two represent another couple of blind alleys the Gunners will be chasing up if they pursue either player, which the Mail claim is a possibility.

Dzeko's future at Manchester City currently looks brighter than at any point under Roberto Mancini, starring in pre-season, and Manuel Pellegrini saying he sees the Bosnian becoming the number one striker at the club this season.

Would City let him go now? It would appear very unlikely, especially with City not needing the money and Dzeko happy in Manchester.

As for Michu, the Spaniard is another player who is happy at his current club, and has shown no indication of wanting to leave Swansea.

He is currently enjoying his European adventure with the Swans, who would not want to release a key player on the eve of the season.

Perhaps a mega-bid of around £30 million would convince them to sell, but whether Arsenal offer that amount is doubtful. Despite Arsenal offering even more for Suarez, Arsene Wenger is known for not offering about what he believes a player is worth.

Would he sanction a bid of that proportion for a player who was bought for just £2 million a season ago. Again it's doubtful.

Arsenal fans might well hope these two are not the only alternatives lined up, because pursuing both could be a lost cause. Another one.

Could Arsenal get either Dzeko or Michu? Who do you want to sign?
