Liverpool will reportedly rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Willian, who could be available this summer due to the Russian side’s financial turmoil. Anzhi signed Willian for £32million in January, but could be prepared to sell the Brazilian playmaker in order to help slash their budget.

Another player apparently on Liverpool’s radar is PSG defender Mamadou Sakho, with reports that the Reds have made an £8million bid for the 23-year-old. Sakho is available after PSG signed Marquinhos from Roma, and is keen to play first team football ahead of next year’s World Cup.

West Ham have completed the £6million signing of Stewart Downing, with the winger agreeing a four-year deal with the Hammers. Downing was not expected to be part of Rodgers’ plans at Liverpool this season, and could play in West Ham’s first game of the season against Cardiff.

Manchester City signed Sinclair from Swansea City last summer, but the 24-year-old rarely featured under Roberto Mancini, and is unlikely to fare any better under new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
