Tottenham Hotspur latest: Dembele concern and Bale injury status

All the latest news and gossip relating to Tottenham Hotspur.

Gareth Bale has been officially ruled out of Wales' international friendly with the Republic of Ireland in midweek. It was suggested that his 'injury' which had ruled him out of Tottenham's pre-season games was a contrived one, but Wales assistant manager Kit Symons confirmed the winger was not yet recovered enough to appear. He will participate in a 'light' training session instead, and there is a fair chance he could be fit enough for Tottenham's opener away to Crystal Palace.

Reports in Belgium are suggesting that Moussa Dembele has an injury which will rule him out of Belgium's midweek international. Journalist Kristof Teurrer claimed the Spurs midfielder has a 'small ankle injury' and could join Jan Vertonghen on the sidelines.

Reported Spurs target Alvaro Vadillo is not for sale, claim Real Betis. The Spanish club are trying to fend off advances for the 18-year-old winger, but may not have a choice if a club elects to meet a €20 million release clause in his contract.

Spurs defender Danny Rose has hit out at former manager Harry Redknapp, even though he was the manager to hand him his debut. He says he felt Benoit Assou-Ekotto was always selected ahead of him regardless of form.

He said: "In the past I’ve never been able to compete fairly with Benoît. Benoît’s been outstanding for the last three or four years, but now we’ve got a manager who treats people fairly, and he’s not afraid to drop people if they’re not performing, so I hope that can work well for me this season."

He went onto make hints about his teammate which the Cameroonian may not thank him for:

"It’s not nice when you train hard every day and people are allowed to sack off training and still be in the starting XI. Sometimes it’s the name on the back of the shirt as well."
