Ligue 1 got underway this weekend, and Joey Barton was nowhere in sight.
The QPR man's former club Marseille were in action on Sunday night away to newly promoted Guingamp and got off to the perfect start.
Pierre-Andre Gignac scored after just three minutes, and a shell shocked Guingamp had a mini meltdown.
New Marseille signing Dmitri Payet scored less than 60 second later, and in the 16th minute he bagged another, making it 3-0.
Guingamp would pull a consolation back to make it 3-1, but the opening blitz sealed the contest before it had even started.
Marsellie coach Elie Baup was certainly happy: "All is well. While there are goals, it is good. We had chances, goals. Everyone did well."
It was a perfect start to Payet's Marseille career after making an £8.8 million summer switch from Lille.
Payet's form last season was sensational, scoring 12 goals and making 18 assists.
That saw Arsenal linked with the winger's signature, but like so many claimed to be Emirates bound this summer, no bid materialised.
Their loss is looking like Marseille's gain already.
