This morning saw Danish international playmaker Christian Eriksen once again linked with a move to the Premier League - this time however it was not Liverpool considered to be in the running for the player.
It was reported that Tottenham Hotspur were preparing a £15 million joint bid for Eriksen, and another Liverpool target, Toby Alderweireld.
The Dane has made it clear he would like to leave Ajax this summer - in order to play in a bigger league.
At the age of 21 the time would certainly seem right for him to make the switch to one of Europe’s big leagues.
One of the biggest aspects of his game, which has really developed over the past 12 months, has been his dead-ball proficiency.
Whether floating in cross or going for goal - he has become a deadly asset when Ajax or Denmark are awarded a free-kick.
In fact, every time he scores recently it seems to have come direct from a free-kick.
That was once again the case when he opened up the scoring in Ajax’s opening game of the season against AZ Alkmaar.
From about 30 yards out he bent the ball, up and over the wall, before it dipped suddenly into the bottom corner.
However, Ajax were stunned in their opening game of their title defence - with AZ gaining revenge for the Johan Cruyff Schaal defeat in July with a 3-2 victory.
Here is the goal….
