Gareth Bale was not seen at Tottenham Hotspur’s friendly with Espanyol at White Hart Lane yesterday, but Spurs fans did catch a glimpse of Etienne Capoue, who is expected to complete a move from Toulouse in the next couple of days.
That will take Spurs’ spending to almost £60million, and the transfer gossip today suggests they will not be slowing down, either to demonstrate their ambition in an attempt to keep Gareth Bale, or due to the massive fee they are about to receive for the Welsh forward.
Alderweireld was Jan Vertonghen’s centre back partner at the Dutch club, and is also a Belgian international. Although he is not as highly rated as Vertonghen, Alderweireld would help cover Spurs defensive injury crisis, and can also play at right-back.
Eriksen has also been targeted by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund this summer, and is one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe, with 36 Denmark caps already despite being just 21.
Fabio Coentrao is also on Spurs wishlist, and the left-back will apparently be targeted regardless of the outcome of Real Madrid’s pursuit of Bale.
Coentrao is keen to leave the Spanish club this summer, and is prepared to move to Spurs to link up with compatriot Andre Villas-Boas.
If Bale does leave, then there has been fresh speculation that Spurs will attempt to hijack Arsenal’s move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.
Suarez has so far suggested he will only leave for a club with Champions League football, and Liverpool are determined to keep the Uruguayan striker, meaning this deal is incredibly unlikely to happen.
Steve Bruce wants to sign Huddlestone permanently, and Livermore on a season long loan.
