Do Everton want another Wigan man?

Chile Flag

Everton have been linked with Wigan players all summer long, with Jean Beausejour the latest target.

With Roberto Martinez arriving from Wigan, it was perhaps inevitable the new Everton manager would be linked with signing some of his old players.

And sure enough last season's Latics frontman Arouna Kone was signed promptly, and defender Antolin Alcaraz followed.

Wigan loanee Joel Robles made the switch to Goodison Park from Atletico Madrid, to apply pressure on Tim Howard for the goalkeeping spot.

And now it is being reported by the Express that Everton are in for another Wigan man.

Chilean winger Jean Beausejour is said to be a target for both the Toffees and Bordeaux as he considers his next move.

He has just one year remaining on his contract at Wigan, and in a World Cup season he will not want to spend it playing in the Championship.

Chile are fourth in the South American qualifying table at present, and Beausejour has the perfect incentive to make a move if he is to come under consideration for next summer, winning his most recent cap just this June.

He is a player Martinez knows well, and his personal relationship with him could be key to securing a deal for his services if Everton do indeed show an interest.

In making the switch Beausejour would not have to uproot from the North West of England either, surely a consideration for the 29-year-old.

Everton do have options on the left wing already, with Bryan Oviedo, Steven Pienaar and Gerard Deulofeu all capable of playing out wide.

Beausejour is a more orthodox left winger though than both Pienaar and Deulofeu, and will offer a more traditional threat from the position with his crossing ability.

Another signing from Wigan may not be the most exciting for Everton fans to consider, but for a knock down price they could do worse than bring the Chilean in on a short term deal.

Everton fans how would you feel about signing Beausejour?
