Transfer talk: Featuring Modric, Pjanic and Downing

Luka Modric

Transfer news involving Liverpool, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Sunderland.

Stewart Downing seems to be on the verge of joining West Ham United this weekend. Odds on the 29-year-old switching Liverpool for London have been slashed today as it appears The Reds are willing to sell him for just £5 million.

His massive wage demands will however prove a stumbling block for The Hammers.

David Moyes has reportedly turned his attentions to Luka Modric - after Cesc Fabregas made it clear he would not be leaving Barcelona this summer.

The 27-year-old is on a shortlist of potential options for the club. Moyes is after a creative midfielder to fill the void created by Paul Scholes retirement this summer.

After securing a deal for Etienne Capoue from Toulouse, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to continue spending. The club are being linked with a Roma boy in the form of Bosnian international Miralem Pjanic.

The former Lyon player is now said to be part of discussions between Franco Baldini and his former club -with a potential £15 million bid a possibility.

Barcelona reportedly expect their transfer target David Luiz to inform Chelsea that he wants to leave the club this summer.

The Catalan club recently made a reported bid for the Brazilian international - which was instantly rejected by the club. It is reported today, that Luiz could inform Chelsea officials that he wants to leave the club this Monday.

Arsenal are said to be back in the race for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney this morning.

The England international has declared himself fit and ready for England’s friendly with Scotland next week, according to the report, and that contradicts United’s current ‘injury’ claims.

The report claims that Rooney is more likely to be sold to Arsenal - as United see them as less of a title threat this season.

Finally, and Sunderland have had a final bid for Panathinaikos winger Charis Mavrias rejected by the Greek outfit.

They are now turning their attention to Tom Huddlestone.
