The England international has declared himself fit and ready for England’s friendly with Scotland next week, according to the report, and that contradicts United’s current ‘injury’ claims.
The report claims that Rooney is more likely to be sold to Arsenal - as United see them as less of a title threat this season.
It comes as the move for Luis Suarez continues to look unlikely, as Liverpool refuse to sell the player.
Arsenal have sent Spanish youngster Ignasi Miquel out on loan to Championship outfit Leicester City. The 20-year-old centre back has arrived at the King Power Stadium on a season-long loan deal - and is immediately available for Saturday’s league fixture against Leeds United.
Miquel, who is a product of the Barcelona youth system, said of the move:
"I knew I wanted to come here as soon as I heard the interest of Leicester and I was focused on making it happen.
"I know it’s a great club and I’m coming to enjoy it here."
A little needle in a haystack now regarding Luiz Gustavo. The Bayern Munich midfielder is expected to leave the Allianz Arena this summer - in order to secure first-team football in a World Cup year.
A deal believed to be worth £14 million is in the offing and Gustavo’s absence from the Bayern Munich side that played Borussia Monchengladbach last night has fuelled rumour even further.
If he was to sign it would see all three of Brazil’s regular central midfield options in North London - with Sandro and Paulinho at Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal are also being heavily linked with a move for Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia this morning - and this is a deal that is gathering momentum fast.
The French youth international was recently called up to the senior side for the first time. He is available for just €10 million - as he has a release clause in his current deal.
Manchester City and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the player - however Arsenal appear to be the new favourites to tie up his signature.
If Arsenal make the correct bid - Sevilla would have to accept, and Kondogbia could join his international team-mate Yaya Sanogo at the Emirates Stadium.
