Transfer news involving Liverpool, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City.
Luis Suarez is going nowhere according to Liverpool owner John W Henry. He made special reference to Arsenal when making it clear that the Uruguayan star was not for sale this summer - at any price:
‘’We are not going to sell Luis. To sell to a rival for those [Champions League] positions, or one of them, would be ludicrous. I'm unequivocal that we won't sell to Arsenal, whatever the bid is. I have not said it to Stan (Kroenke) but I had a personal conversation with Ivan Gazidis and told him we would not sell. He won't be sold even if a foreign club comes in, because we do not have time to sign a suitable replacement.’’
Bolton have completed the permanent signing of Jay Spearing from Liverpool. The midfielder spent last season on-loan at the Reebok Stadium and Dougie Freedman has been chasing him all summer.
He has signed a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Paris-Saint Germain continue to chase Yohan Cabaye this summer. The clubs manager Laurent Blanc has admitted he is still interested in signing the Newcastle United midfielder this summer. He did however also have a surprising revelation on his part - that he believes Tottenham are also chasing the player.
That would be an odd switch considering his Les Bleus team-mate Etienne Capoue is rumoured to be heading to London for a medical today - with the view of completing his £8.6 million move from Toulouse this week.
Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid has hit a snag - after the clubs president Florentino Perez admitted that they would not be spending £85 million on the Welshman:
"If I do not talk about names, I do not talk about money. [But] €100 million seems a lot to me, a lot for everything. I do not talk about players nor money because I should not and cannot, out of respect."
Stoke City are in talks with to sign former Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf from Hannover. The Senegalese striker has been banging in the goals since arriving in the Bundesliga.
There is a shock transfer in the midst of the gossip today. Carlton Cole reportedly featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly for Tottenham Hotspur and AVB is said to be considering offering the free agent a deal.
