Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Europa League draw and Capoue

News, views and rumours relating to Tottenham Hotspur in the past 24 hours.

Tottenham were drawn against Dinamo Tbilisi for the UEFA Europa League this afternoon.

The Georgian outfit will host Spurs at the Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi on August 22nd with the Georgians travelling to White Hart Lane for the second leg on August 29th – the three days before Spurs take on North London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates.

In transfer news, Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Etienne Capoue, at least according to the Mail from Toulouse understood to be worth £8.6 million. The highly-rated 24-year-old defensive midfielder will still be required to complete a medical, which he is understood to have been having today. Tottenham are yet to confirm the news on their website.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes €100 million is ‘a lot of money’ to pay for target Gareth Bale.

“100m euros seems to me like a lot of money, all things considered. But I won't talk about players or money, because I shouldn't and I cannot," Perez told ESPN.

Reports emerged today that talks over Gareth Bale have ‘broken down’ between Spurs and the Spaniards. The Telegraph claims Daniel Levy ‘refused’ to meet Real Madrid officials this week.

The Evening Standard suggests Real Madrid will take it ‘to the wire’ to sign Bale with the new season starting in 8 days time before the transfer window slams shut on September 2nd.

The Daily Mail reports that Real Madrid have rejected an offer to take Emmanuel Adebayor who it is understood Spurs are keen to offload as part of Levy’s negotiations over Gareth Bale.

Elsewhere, Tottenham target Leandro Damiao ‘nearly’ joined Napoli after rejected interest from Southampton.

Spurs have ‘played down’ rumours they could sign Carlton Cole on a free transfer.

Finally, The Express claims Tottenham will ‘battle’ PSG to sign Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle United.
